1 March - 31 May Daytime temperatures range from 0°C to 25°C (32°F - 77°F). A luxurious and relaxed time against a backdrop of brilliant reds and golds of the autumn leaves. Depending on the temperature, leaves start to turn at the end of March or beginning of April. By mid-April, the colours are in full swing. Crisp mornings evolve into warm days, ideal for walking, horse riding or wine tasting. Evenings can be spent in front of a warming log fire, discussing the day's activities and planning the following day's adventures. Head to Fiordland and enjoy late season walks on the Milford, Hollyford, Routeburn or Greenstone tracks, accessing alpine plateaus, snow-capped peaks, lush rainforests and the waterfalls of this World Heritage Area before the season closes.
